Lisbon airport (LIS) is Portugal’s busiest, with about 36 million passengers in 2025, and sits about 7 km from the centre with its own metro station [1]. It is TAP’s hub, so in autumn 2026 there were direct flights every day from London, Manchester, Dublin, Frankfurt, Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Prague, Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm, Oslo, New York and Toronto [3–14]. Fares are typically lowest in January on most routes and highest in July or August [3–14]. Lisbon also works as a stopover: on to Madeira, the Azores or by train to the Algarve [2][16][17].
