How we make money
Affiliate disclosure
Last updated 2026-10-09
Short version: some links on this site are partner (affiliate) links. If you book or buy through one, the company may pay us a commission. You pay the same price. The commission never decides what we write, which places we include or what we tell you to avoid.
Where you'll see partner links
Partner links sit in clearly marked boxes labelled Partner links, and every such button saysaffiliate link ↗. They appear at the points where you have a decision to make: where to stay, how to get there, how to pay, mobile data, insurance and bookable trips. Every box says it contains partner links. Inside the guides themselves, places are listed because of what they offer, not because they pay.
The companies we link to, or plan to link to, by category:
- Places to stay: Stay22
- Car hire: Discover Cars
- Flights: Aviasales
- eSIMs: Airalo, Holafly
- Money and cards: Wise, Revolut
- Tours and tickets: GetYourGuide, Viator
Until a partnership is active, these links go to the company's ordinary website without any tracking code. We update this list when partnerships change.
Local partners
Some local businesses (a café, a surf school, a place to stay) may pay to be featured. They are always markedPaid partner, with a note that it's a paid placement. Paying doesn't buy a better review, and it doesn't remove a critical one. Our facts on every page keep their sources and the date we checked them.
Insurance
Travel insurance is a regulated product. We don't earn anything from insurance and don't recommend specific policies; where we mention it, we point to public guidance.
Sponsored content
If a whole article is a paid collaboration, it says so at the top, before you start reading, not only at the end.
How links are marked for search engines
All partner links carry rel="sponsored nofollow", as Google asks for paid and affiliate links.
