Lagos has a small but real specialty coffee scene: European Coffee Trip lists seven cafés in town (September 2026), and four of them carry its “Laptop Friendly” label — The Studio, Black and White, DOT Coffee and Twin Fin. If you need a café for a working morning, start there. If you just want the best cup, the list is longer, and some of the best places are too small to sit with a laptop.

One thing to plan around: almost all of these close between 16:00 and 18:00. For an afternoon of calls, a coworking space works better.

Lagos cafés at a glance

Café Hours (per listing) Free Wi-Fi Laptop Friendly Food
The Studio 07:00–18:00 daily Yes Yes All-day brunch
Black and White 08:00–16:00 daily Yes Yes Brunch, croissants
DOT Coffee 08:00–19:00 daily Yes Yes Coffee only listed
Twin Fin 08:30–16:00 daily (sources differ) Yes Yes Waffles, brunch
Coffee & Waves 09:00–16:00 daily Yes Not listed Coffee bar
ALEX 08:30–16:30 (2024 guide) Unknown Unknown Brunch
Everyday People 08:00–16:00 (2024 guide, OSM) Unknown Unknown Brunch
Goji Lounge 09:00–17:30, closed Tue (2024) Unknown Unknown Brunch, bowls; cash only

Wi-Fi and laptop columns are European Coffee Trip’s labels (profiles modified September 2026). “Unknown” means no source we found says either way. Nobody, including us, has published a speed test for any of these.

Best for working: The Studio

The Studio on Rua Soeiro da Costa is the café two separate blogs recommend specifically for work: Travelling Jezebel calls it “by far your best bet” for working in Lagos, and an All Things Remote post calls it “a great place to work from all day”. It roasts its own beans in Lagos, serves brunch all day, and has the longest hours of the laptop-friendly group, 07:00–18:00 on its European Coffee Trip profile (a 2024 blog had 08:00–17:00). It also has a second shop in Praia da Luz.

Best coffee-and-brunch with a laptop bar: Black and White

Black and White on Rua Marreiros Netto describes itself as “Specialty Coffee – Brunch – Croissants” and opens every day 08:00–16:00. A 2024 guide mentions a bar area set aside for laptops and a separate take-away counter next door after the move to bigger premises; another warns about queues and says the kitchen closes at 15:00. Outsite’s Lagos page names it, with Coffee & Waves, as a café “known for solid WiFi”.

Open late: DOT Coffee

DOT Coffee is the one to know if you work in the afternoon: its European Coffee Trip profile lists 08:00–19:00 every day, free Wi-Fi, laptop friendly and outdoor seating. It is a coffee bar — no breakfast or lunch on the listing — pouring beans from roasters such as Shokunin (Rotterdam). This rests on one source; we found no second confirmation of the hours.

The surf café: Twin Fin

Twin Fin on Rua Gil Vicente is plants, wicker chairs and a surfboard over the bar, with topped waffles and vegan brunch. European Coffee Trip lists it as laptop friendly, 08:30–16:00. Two older blogs (2024) describe evening bar hours up to midnight in summer, so it may be a café by day and a bar at night — not the place for a late call.

The coffee that started it: Coffee & Waves

Coffee & Waves on Travessa do Cotovelo is a surfboard workshop and coffee bar that The Coffeevine credits with starting Lagos’s third-wave coffee culture. It pours beans from roasters like Nomad (Barcelona) and Friedhats (Amsterdam). It is small and gets busy, it is not labelled laptop friendly, and a 2024 blog quoted its Instagram as saying it doesn’t open when the surf is good. Go for the coffee, not for the desk.

Brunch first: ALEX, Everyday People, Goji

  • ALEX — small, bright specialty coffee and brunch place near the bus station (2024 guide: daily 08:30–16:30).
  • Everyday People — coffee and brunch near the marina; OpenStreetMap records 08:00–16:00 (checked April 2026).
  • Goji Lounge — bowls, pancakes and toasts on a big terrace with a tiny inside, closed Tuesdays and cash only (2024 blog).

None of these three has a source on Wi-Fi or laptops, which is why we don’t list them as places to work.

Coffee etiquette and prices

Ask for “um café” and you get an espresso. In specialty cafés, prices follow the third-wave model rather than the Portuguese counter price: The Coffeevine’s 2023 review of Coffee & Waves listed espresso at €1.50 and a flat white at €2.90; Numbeo’s crowd-sourced average for a cappuccino in Lagos was €2.44 in October 2026 (25 contributors, low confidence).

On laptop manners: no café on this list publishes a laptop policy. The usual courtesy applies — order something every hour or two, give up the table at lunch, take calls outside — as a suggestion, not a house rule.

When cafés aren’t enough

For a full working day with calls, a monitor and reliable hours, Lagos has coworking spaces from €16 a day — compared in working remotely from Lagos. For where to stay within walking distance of these cafés (most are in the old town), see where to stay in Lagos.
