Working remotely from Sagresinternet, coworking and cafés

Sagres works for remote work if you plan for it: two places sell desks, a few cafés list Wi-Fi, and no one publishes a measured speed. What exists, what has closed, how fibre is spreading in the municipality, and what to test on day one.

Short answer: yes, you can work from Sagres — but bring a plan, not just a laptop. Two places sell desks, a handful of cafés list Wi-Fi, and we found no independent speed test — only operators’ claims. Book accommodation whose host can show you a recent speed test, keep a mobile data backup, and treat cafés as a change of scene rather than your office.

Where you can book a desk

OFF THE HOOK is a coliving guesthouse with a separate office open to day guests 09:00–18:00 [1]. Its price page lists the office at 10 € a day, but that page was last updated in July 2023 [2] — confirm the price before you go. It describes its connection as “lightning fast”, without a number [1].

Sagres Sun Stay is a hostel with a cowork room advertising high-speed Wi-Fi and power plugs; desks are bookable online, but the price is not published [3]. For a month, its Digital Nomad Package bundles 30 nights with breakfast from €402 [4].

Outsite Sagres is a coliving house with shared workspaces for its residents — 12 bedrooms and one apartment [5]. Its location page advertises Wi-Fi at 400 Mbps [13], an operator claim rather than a speed test we made. Check the current room rate for your dates; the winter 2026/27 offer from €800 a month required booking by 11 October 2026 and is no longer current [14].

Unconfirmed: Sagres Hub announced a “Health Hub and Co-Work community” with desks “coming soon” in March 2025 [7]; its website no longer loads, and we could not confirm whether the desks ever opened or still operate. An Outsite guide from November 2024 said there were no coworking spaces in Sagres apart from its own [6] — that was already out of date given OFF THE HOOK and Sun Stay.

Compare with Lagos, 35 minutes away by car [12], where Nest Coworking sells a day pass for €16 [11]. If you need a proper coworking every day, Lagos is the more reliable base — see Sagres vs Lagos.

Cafés with Wi-Fi

Café Wi-Fi in Sagres is documented venue by venue, not as a general rule:

  • Picnic Sagres is listed by European Coffee Trip as having free Wi-Fi and being laptop-friendly; it is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and its closing time differs between sources [8].
  • Caffe Espresso, on the main square, was described as having “fast and free” Wi-Fi in Outsite’s 2024 guide [6].
  • Laundry Lounge was described in the same guide as popular with surfers and freelancers, with no statement on Wi-Fi [6].

Two directory listings and one operator’s blog do not make Sagres a café-working town. A café can tolerate a laptop at 10 a.m. in November and not at 1 p.m. in August.

Internet: what we know and what we don’t

  • No independent measured speed for Sagres. Every claim we found comes from an operator: adjectives (“high speed”, “lightning fast”) [1][3] and one figure, Outsite’s 400 Mbps [13].
  • Fibre is spreading in the municipality. In July 2026, a report said DSTelecom’s open fibre network would cover 90% of Vila do Bispo municipality in the third quarter of 2026, adding 800 homes in Budens, Vila do Bispo and Raposeira and bringing next-generation broadband to 5,700 households [9]. Sagres parish is not named in the article, so whether a given street in Sagres has fibre is something to ask the host.
  • The national picture is good: Portugal’s fixed-broadband median was 360 Mbps download in August 2026 [10]. A national median tells you nothing about a particular flat in Sagres, which is why the host’s own speed test matters.

What we would do: ask the host for a speed-test screenshot (download, upload and ping) taken in the last month, ask whether the line is fibre, and keep a mobile data plan or eSIM as a backup for calls.

Time zone and working hours

Sagres runs on Lisbon time — the same clock as the UK and one hour behind Central Europe. For people working with European teams, a 9:00 meeting in Berlin is 8:00 in Sagres.

Wind, surf and the workday

This is the part no listing captures. If you surf, the tide and the wind will want a say in your working hours, so a job with flexible hours fits Sagres better than one with fixed afternoon calls. Our surfing guide covers the seasons.

Checklist before you book

  1. Ask for a recent speed test and whether the line is fibre.
  2. Check that there is a table and a proper chair — holiday rentals often have neither.
  3. Know your backup: OFF THE HOOK or Sun Stay for a day desk [1][3], mobile data for calls.
  4. If your work depends on a stable connection every day, consider Lagos as a base and Sagres for weekends.

      Quick answers

      Is there coworking in Sagres?

Two places advertise desks: OFF THE HOOK, a coliving guesthouse with a separate office (10 €/day on a 2023 price page, day guests 09:00–18:00), and Sagres Sun Stay, a hostel with a cowork room (price not published). Outsite runs a coliving house with shared workspaces for its guests. Sagres Hub, once listed as coming soon, has an expired website.

How fast is the internet in Sagres?

We found no independent measured speed for Sagres. Operators describe their Wi-Fi as 'high speed' or 'lightning fast'; Outsite alone gives a figure (400 Mbps, its own claim). Portugal's national fixed-broadband median was 360 Mbps download in August 2026 (Speedtest Global Index), but that says nothing about a specific flat in Sagres — ask your host for a recent speed test.

Is there fibre internet in Sagres?

Fibre is being extended in the municipality: a July 2026 report says DSTelecom's open network will cover 90% of Vila do Bispo municipality in Q3 2026, adding 800 homes in Budens, Vila do Bispo and Raposeira. The article does not mention Sagres parish, so check your address with the host.

What time zone is Sagres in?

Western European Time (Europe/Lisbon) — the same clock as the UK, one hour behind Central Europe.
