The red sandstone castle above Silves, open daily from 09:00; €2.80 for adults, €1.40 for children, and €3.90 with the archaeology museum
Documented: children pay half price (€1.40); the council gives no age limit for the child rate and lists no family ticket. Walls and walkways are the attraction — keep small children close on the ramparts. Research, not first-hand.
Silves Castle is the main reason most people drive inland to Silves. It’s a walled hilltop castle in red sandstone above the town, and you can walk the walls. It is cheap: €2.80 for an adult and €1.40 for a child, or €3.90 for a combined ticket with the town’s archaeology museum [1].
Further afield: Castelo de Loulé and Museu Municipal (37 km). Straight-line distances from the centre point, not driving times.
Schematic: positions from each place's coordinates, no roads or coastline. Not for navigation.
