Beach in Sagres
Small, calm cove 15 min east of Sagres: the gentlest water around for swimming and snorkelling, a seafood restaurant on the sand, lifeguard and Blue Flag in 2026. Limited parking.
APA describes 'a small bay of calm waters'; one guide lists it as a beach for families with lifeguard, toilets and rentals. Small, so busy days feel crowded. Research, not first-hand.
If you want calm water near Sagres, Ingrina is the first beach to check. The official APA profile describes it as a golden-sand beach “on a small bay of calm waters”, sheltered by a limestone platform to the west and cliffs to the east [1]. It is a lifeguarded bathing beach for 1 June–30 September 2026 [2] and holds a 2026 Blue Flag [3].
What it is like. Small: around 100 metres of sand by one guide’s count, 150 metres by another [4][5]. The water is usually clear and gentle enough for snorkelling, and kayaks and paddleboards can be rented in season [4]. The restaurant on the beach serves fish and seafood with tables looking at the sea [4]. Surf happens only when a strong winter swell wraps in and the left breaks off the rocks into the bay [6].
Who it suits. Families with small children are the obvious match — one guide lists it simply as a beach for families [4]. For a nomad or a workation week it is a long-lunch-and-swim stop rather than a base. Its size cuts both ways: easy to keep an eye on a child, but not much space between towels on a busy day [4].
Getting there. Drive from Sagres via Raposeira; parking by the beach is limited [4]. The last stretch is a dirt road [5]. You can walk over the cliffs to Praia do Zavial, passing the ruins of the 18th-century Bateria do Zavial [4].
Check before you go: restaurant hours outside summer; how early the car park fills in July and August.
Further afield: Praia do Martinhal (5 km), Praia da Baleeira (6 km), Praia da Mareta (7 km), Praia do Tonel (8 km), Praia do Beliche (8 km), Praia da Ponta Ruiva (8 km), Praia do Castelejo (8 km), Praia da Cordoama (9 km). Straight-line distances from the centre point, not driving times.
