The classic viewpoint over the Sete Cidades crater lakes, 24 minutes' drive from Ponta Delgada; start of an easy 7.5 km trail down to the village.

PR3SMI starts at Vista do Rei, runs along the south-west crater rim and ends by the church in Sete Cidades: 7.5 km, about 2 hours, easy, linear. The part on the Arrebentões road is steep and slippery. [trails.visitazores.com, 9 Oct 2026]

Bus to the village (not the viewpoint): on weekends line 208 makes a day trip possible (Saturday 07:15 out, 16:25 back; Sunday 08:30 out, 18:05 back). On weekdays line 205 arrives at 09:45; line 206 shows a 17:15 back to the Ramal Mosteiros junction, where buses on lines 206 and 208 leave at 17:45 for Ponta Delgada (arriving 18:40 and 19:03).
