The notes

What the sources say (research)

  • The 2026 season is over. It ran 51 trips from 6 June to 18 October, on Saturdays, Sundays and some Wednesdays, between Régua and Tua. [cp.pt, 19 May 2026] As of 26 October 2026 CP has published no dates and no prices for 2027, so everything below describes the 2026 season.
  • It was hauled in 2026 by a 1400-series diesel locomotive in original colours (not steam), with five historic coaches from the early 20th century and 254 seats. [cp.pt]
  • In 2026 there was a welcome at Régua station from 15:00 with music and a Port drink; the train left Régua at 15:32, stopped at Pinhão and Tua for local producers and the Tua Valley Interpretation Centre, returned from Tua at 17:07 and was back in Régua at 18:22. [cp.pt]
  • 2026 fares were €60 adults, €32 children aged 4–12, with group rates. [cp.pt]
  • For 2027, watch cp.pt in spring: CP announced the 2026 season on 19 May 2026. Note also that the Marco de Canaveses–Régua section of the Douro line is closed from 3 November 2026 to 24 March 2027 for modernisation work, which may affect when the historic train can restart; see the Douro valley from Porto.
