The notes
The Torre de Tavira is the town’s old water tower, converted in 2004 into a camera obscura: a guide projects a live, moving image of the town onto a dish in a dark room and talks through what you see. It works for families with children over four and for anyone who wants an overview of the old town in half an hour. It only runs in good light and the hours are short, so check before you go.

Good to know / Check before you go
- The operator’s published hours do not specify a seasonal closing date. The show depends on suitable light, so check before you go, especially if travelling in from Cabanas or Santa Luzia.
- It sits next to the castle on Calçada da Galeria, so both fit in one short morning.
