Tourism office lists a playground, picnic area, toilets, an amphitheatre and signposted trails of 1–2.4 km inside a fenced area with semi-captive fallow deer; the municipality runs free family activities in August–September (research).

The notes

The Mata da Conceição leisure park is a fenced municipal woodland inland from Cabanas, with a playground, picnic tables, short trails and a small herd of fallow deer. It is the strongest option we found for families wanting shade and space away from the beach. It needs a car or a long walk, and opening days change by season.

Good to know / Check before you go

  • Opening days and hours are only in social-media snippets — check before you go, ideally with the municipality (+351 281 320 500, cm-tavira.pt).
  • No public transport to the gate was found in the sources; plan on a car or taxi.
  • None of the sources mentions a café or kiosk — bring water and food.
