Documented only: a covered market hall in the town centre. A morning walk-through works with most ages. Research, not first-hand.
The notes
Loulé’s market hall is the town’s landmark: a domed building in an Islamic-revival style that opened on 27 June 1908, according to the municipal market operator [1]. It holds produce and fish stalls, shops and cafés. Go in the morning if you want to see the fresh-food stalls.
What we found (research)
- The building has four gates, four pavilions and domes [1].
- The operator locates the outdoor Saturday market in Rua Ataíde de Oliveira and Rua José Fernandes Guerreiro beside the hall [1].
- The operator’s 2026 concession terms give hall hours of Monday 07:00–15:00 and Tuesday–Saturday 07:00–19:00, with Sundays and public holidays closed unless an exception is announced [2]. Street-facing businesses may keep different hours [2].
Good to know / Check before you go
- Individual fresh-food stalls may close before the hall does; check with the operator for a specific stall. The old council notice from 2012 [3] is superseded by the 2026 concession terms [2].
