Blue Flag 2026 with a lifeguarded bathing season 1 Jun–30 Sep (ABAAE), and 'Praia Acessível' status with amphibious wheelchairs (CM Faro/press). Ocean side vs calmer lagoon side not compared in sources.
The notes
Praia de Faro is the city’s own beach, on the sand spit (Península do Ancão) across the lagoon from the airport. You can reach it without a boat: by car over a narrow bridge, or on Próximo bus 16 from the city bus station via the airport. A ferry from the old-town quay runs too. It’s the easiest beach for anyone staying in Faro without a car, and it had a Blue Flag and lifeguards in the 2026 season.
