In detail

The notes behind this page

Córdoba is a city of about 325,000 people on the Guadalquivir, once the capital of the Caliphate of Córdoba, and today mostly visited for the Mezquita-Catedral. It sits on the high-speed line between Seville and Madrid and is about an hour or less from both Seville and Málaga, so it works as a night on an Andalusia loop or as a day trip. It is also one of the hottest cities in Spain: AEMET’s July normal high is 36.9 °C.

Can I drive into Córdoba's old town?

Only with permission. The historic centre is a restricted-traffic area (ACIRE) watched by cameras; hotels inside it register guests' number plates. Córdoba's 2023 mobility bylaw also sets up a low-emission zone, which the Spanish Ombudsman describes as the ACIRE areas. We could not confirm the fine regime, so ask your accommodation before you drive in.
