In detail

The notes behind this page

Marbella is a resort town of about 160,000 people on the western Costa del Sol, known since the 1950s and 60s for its upmarket hotels, Puerto Banús marina and luxury shops. Away from that image it has a compact old town around the Plaza de los Naranjos, beaches along 44 km of municipal coastline and a coworking scene aimed at property and hospitality professionals. There is no train: Málaga airport is 45 minutes away by direct bus.

Marbella: quick answers

How do I get from Málaga airport to Marbella?

Avanza runs a direct bus from Terminal 3 arrivals to Marbella bus station in about 45 minutes, from €6.48 (timetable valid from 14 September 2026). Marbella has no railway station; the nearest Cercanías stop is Fuengirola, 27 km away (Turismo Marbella).

Does Marbella have coworking spaces?

Yes. Centro House (contact address in Nueva Andalucía) charges €39 a day or €379 a month for a hot desk, plus IVA (centro.house, October 2026). Cheaper: WeCowork lists a day pass at €19, a week at €79 and a shared desk at €159 a month, all plus VAT (wecowork.es, October 2026). A guide updated in September 2026 also lists Our Space (day €25), which we have not checked ourselves.

How much does it cost to rent in Marbella?

Numbeo's crowd-sourced average on 2 October 2026 was €1,351.67 a month for a one-bedroom flat in the centre and €1,057.17 outside it, from only 15 contributors. Treat it as an order of magnitude. These are long leases. Since 8 October 2026 a holiday let can't exceed 31 days and a longer furnished stay needs a temporary-housing lease with a real, provable reason (Royal Decree-law 29/2026, still awaiting Congress approval, so check before you sign).

Is Marbella good for families?

For beaches, yes: eight Blue Flag beaches in 2026, several close to the centre. The big family attractions of the coast are further east in Fuengirola and Benalmádena. Research, not first-hand.
